With exceptionally large male lions exceeding 250 in weight, it is clear why the Lion is the second-largest living cat, trumped only by the Tiger.
Compared to other cats, lions are extraordinarily social animals. The lion's whole life is moving together with other cats, big or small groups whether its hunting for food or looking for a place to hybernate. Related females and offspring together with a few adult males make up a pride of lions. Groups of female lions typically hunt together, preying mostly on large ungulates. The lion is a top predator in its world, even though they will alternatively resort to scavenging if the chance arises. Teamwork enables them to guard their kills more effortlessly against other large predators. Males attached to prides do not usually partake in hunting, apart from when a larger quarry is hunted. Bachelor male are forced to hunt, without the help of the lionesses. Male lions have been noted to hunt in packs.
The lions' diet of consists primarily of large mammals, with a foremost choice for wildebeest, impalas, zebras, buffalo, and warthogs.
