The giraffe is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, the tallest of all land-living animal species, and the largest ruminant.
Female giraffe's bracket together in groups of a dozen or more members with a few younger males included in the group from time to time. Older males live in solitude, while the younger males live in small bachelor herds. Reproduction is polygamous, with only a small number of older males impregnating all the fertile females in a group.
The giraffe's main diet consists of twigs and leaves of trees, and can also live without difficulty on other vegetable food.
